Croatia has been a hot spot for holidaymakers for decades. With its close proximity to the UK and beautiful weather and scenery, it’s not difficult to see why it’s so popular.

Split, Croatia

Croatia is located in central/southeastern Europe and is roughly two hours and 30 minutes from the UK. It has a population of over four million.

Much of the tourist industry is concentrated along the Adriatic Sea coast. Split, Dubrovnik, Zagreb and the island of Brač make up one of the foremost spots for visitors in Croatia. The country attracts tourists from all over the world but mainly tourists from Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Italy and Poland.

Croatia ranks as the 23rd most popular tourist destination in the world and it has unpolluted marine areas with nature reserves and 116 Blue Flag beaches.

Split is the second largest city of Croatia and the largest city in the region of Dalmatia. It lies on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea and is spread over a central peninsula and its surroundings.

There are excellent transport connections by bus, sea, air and train, it’s easy to travel to and from the city.

Airlines flying from Heathrow airport to Split

School holiday dates differ from area to area. Most school holidays this year will begin on July 22 and last roughly 63 days, our dates have been picked according to this.

KLM Cityhopper has a London Heathrow to Split route. Flights on August 8 to August 15 start from £265.

What are the latest Croatia travel rules?

Those travelling need to complete an online entry form before arriving in Croatia. If you’ve been fully vaccinated within the last 270 days, you can enter Croatia without needing to test or quarantine. You must present proof that you have been fully vaccinated to enter Croatia.

Croatia will accept the UK’s proof of COVID-19 recovery and vaccination record and proof of COVID-19 vaccination issued in the Crown Dependencies. Your final vaccine dose must have been administered at least 14 days prior to travel. Your NHS appointment card from vaccination centres is not designed to be used as proof of vaccination and should not be used to demonstrate your vaccine status.

If you’re not fully vaccinated, you’ll need to show proof of a negative PCR test (taken no more than 72 hours before entry) or a rapid antigen test (taken no more than 24 hours before entry) when entering Croatia.

Children under 12 and accompanied by a parent or guardian who has proof of vaccination, a negative test result or proof of recovery, do not need to take a test to enter Croatia.
