Travellers from the United States and several other countries – Brazil, Egypt, almost all of the African countries, and the Americas, among others – can now reach France without having to follow additional entry rules as they have all been moved to the green list.
Apart from the newly added countries, France’s green list already includes all EU/Schengen Area countries as well as several other non-EU countries, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
The French Ministry of Interior explains that restriction-free entry applies to all travellers reaching France from the US or any other country placed on the green list provided that they present one of the COVID-19 travel documents.
“No restriction shall apply when entering metropolitan France from a green list country or territory. No compelling reason is required for travellers to France,” the French Ministry of Interior states.
Fully vaccinated travellers arriving in France from one of the green countries do not need to undergo additional entry rules as long as they present a valid vaccination pass. Only vaccination certificates indicating completion of primary vaccination within the last nine months with one of the accepted vaccine doses are considered valid in France. Vaccination passes indicating vaccination with a booster shot are also accepted.
Unvaccinated travellers from “green areas” can also enter France for travel purposes without having to undergo additional measures upon arrival.
Unvaccinated travellers who reach France from a green-listed country are only required to provide a PCR or rapid antigen test taken recently.
“For unvaccinated travellers, the obligation to present a negative test to travel to France remains, but the measures on arrival (such as test, isolation) are lifted when they come from countries on the “green” list, characterized by a moderate circulation of the virus,” the Ministry highlighted.
France accepts PCR tests taken within the last 72 hours, whereas the rapid antigen tests need to be taken within 48 hours before arrival.
In contrast to the US and the other third countries added to the green list, the Ministry has explained that the United Kingdom, Australia, and China, among others, will remain part of the orange list until a further update.
Vaccinated travellers from orange-listed countries can enter France only if they present a valid vaccination pass and a sworn statement attesting the absence of Coronavirus symptoms.
The same applies to travellers who have not been vaccinated against the virus. Unvaccinated travellers entering France from an orange-listed country must present a sworn statement as well as a negative test result upon arrival.
Previously, SchengenVisaInfo.com reported that France lifted the COVID-19 pass requirement for access to most places and events. This means that travellers are now subject to less stringent measures during their stay in France.
